Richie Hawtin has announced the upcoming release of a special 30th anniversary edition of his iconic album Musik, originally produced under his Plastikman alias. The remastered album will be available on vinyl, which will be pressed using bio-friendly materials and packaged in eco-conscious materials. This commemorative edition will be released through NovaMute on Friday, December 6th.
Fans can now preview a remastered snippet of one of the album’s standout tracks, “Plastique.” Musik first debuted in November 1994, marking Hawtin’s second full-length album as Plastikman and his third overall. The album expanded on the minimalist techno style he had become known for and coincided with his debut live performance as Plastikman.
In 2023, Hawtin also re-released his groundbreaking Sheet One album in celebration of its own 30th anniversary. Earlier in 2024, he unveiled a new live performance concept called DEX EFX XOX, further pushing the boundaries of his innovative work in electronic music.
