Alfredo Fiorito, known globally as DJ Alfredo and revered as the “Father of the Balearic Beat,” passed away on December 24, 2024, at the age of 71.

Born on April 20, 1953, in Rosario, Argentina, Alfredo’s early career was in journalism and music criticism. In 1976, he relocated to Ibiza, Spain, seeking new horizons. On the island, he undertook various jobs, including candlemaking and bartending, before discovering his passion for DJing. His eclectic style, seamlessly blending genres like disco, house, funk, and rock, became the hallmark of the Balearic Beat.

Alfredo’s influence peaked during his residency at Amnesia in the 1980s, where his innovative sets captivated audiences and left an indelible mark on the global dance music scene. His visionary approach inspired a generation of DJs and clubbers, significantly contributing to the evolution of electronic music.

In 2021, Alfredo suffered a stroke, leading to health complications in subsequent years. Despite these challenges, his legacy endured, with the global music community rallying to support him during his times of need.
