“What I Used To Play ” the new compilation by sven väth on cocoon recordings

On February 3, Sven Väth, founder of the Cocoon Recordings label, released the highly anticipated compilation “What I Used To Play.” After two and a half years in the making, the 36-track compilation is available as a deluxe 3CD digipak and a special 12 x 12″ vinyl box set, featuring twelve individually colored disco sleeves and full-size artist portraits of Sven from the 1980s.

The tracklist of “What I Used To Play” is a stunning selection, including club favorites such as 16 Bit’s “Where Are You?” and OFF’s “Electrica Salsa,” as well as hard-to-clear classics like Kraftwerk’s “Computerwelt,” Whodini’s “Magic’s Wand,” and New Order’s “Blue Monday.”

Sven said of the release, which was narrowed down from an initial list of 120 tracks, “It was a great trip and with every track, beautiful memories came flooding back.

” He spent several days surrounded by his collection, revisiting his musical journey through the 1980s. Each of the 24 sides of vinyl traces the soundscape that influenced him during different phases of this era.”
